Cards can be a nice way of separating content in a visual manor, making it much more user friendly. Using the custom links you can also lead customers further if they wish to know more information than that displayed in the text.

Cards can also be a good way to list services or categories of work, utilising the thumbnail image and brief outline text to spark your customers interest.
Differently
You can also use them as Business Cards and makes a nice way to display contact information without that information getting lost amongst other text.
Images
You can add single images to a page and then using various options modify the way the image is displayed. If you want to display the image in its entirety you can display it in its original shape, but sometimes you want the image to fit in with the style of your website so our code can best fit or fill a shape of your choosing.
